MaternityLand: Stop Two!

Alright, here we are on the second half of our MaternityLand trip, and we'll be making this stop with another couple near and dear to my heart--none other than my brother and sister-in-law! Ryan and Stephanie are expecting their first child VERY soon--in fact, their due date is tomorrow! I am choosing to calm my excitement and impatience by blogging, rather than pacing and repeatedly calling the two of them to get a baby update like I feel the urge to every single minute of the day! Ha. But enough about how much I want my new niece to hurry up and get here (more on that later!), back to the photos!

So not long ago, the three of us ventured out to Coxhall Gardens in Carmel for their Maternity Session. We brought along the infamous Lantern Tree Pink Vintage Chair, a fun frame, and of course, our sister, Karie! Karie's unofficial job was to occupy Ryan while Steph and I got down to some posing and shooting business--that is, until we'd beckon Ryan over for a shot or two and then send him on his way again. Stephanie and I had a great time capturing some gorgeous shots of her ridiculously cute baby belly. And then we'd hear a bunch of giddy laughter coming from Karie, which typically meant Ryan was doing something cheesy. Iphone snapshots, Instagram formatting, and Facebook posting ensued, and before I knew it, my sister was attempting to put me out of a job! Man, those iphones can be great little cameras, and my sister has quite the eye for photography to boot. I'll include some of their craziness and iphone shots for you to check out, too.

Now, I'd like to make you a deal: I'll only reveal these photos to you if you all stop reading right now, call my brother and Stephanie, and ask if the baby is coming yet. And when they tell you no, please do not let them hang up until you get some details about the baby's name! No amount of begging or pleading has worked for me so far. Maybe they'll tell you. So go ahead, and good luck!

Yeah, they wouldn't tell me either. Sigh. Thanks for trying. You can also await the arrival of my named-but-you-can't-know-it-yet niece by checking out the fun we had at our maternity shoot! And you can bet your biscuits that we'll have some newborn shots for you soon, too! AHEM. Hopefully VERY soon, little baby. Aunt Shannon's running out of distractions! ;)

Enjoy!

And now for the Instagram Photos:

Do Not Open Until 1985

If you've been keeping up this past week, you'll know we're reviving this long-neglected blog by traveling back through time, Marty McFly style! So put on your old "Johnny B. Goode" record and head back with me to the Enchantment Under the Sea Dance November 2011! Take a look at this mini-session with the lovely Doan family. In just about 30 short minutes, we rocked out our mini-session with lots of beautiful fall colors, smiles, and gorgeous settings from Coxhall Gardens in Carmel. And if all went well at the dance, we shouldn't have to worry about any family members starting to fade out of these photos! Enjoy.

It's hard to believe that less than a year ago, I blogged about the miracle of my non-eater son, Trenton, finally beginning to eat two foods on a regular basis: Pudding and yogurt.  Yes, he only ate those two foods, and yes, we were jumping for joy about it!  He had truly never eaten food by mouth in his entire 4 1/2 years of life, so this was the first HUGE step on the long learning-to-eat-and-drink journey that Trenton had in front of him.

No one could've expected that this journey would be coming to an end only a year later, but I am proud to declare that at the ripe old age of 5 1/2, Trenton is now eating nearly anything, and has even been drinking for the past 2 months!  It's absolutely remarkable to see how far he's come!  Jumping for joy isn't even close to describing how we feel about this--picture cartwheels and triple axels!  ;)

Now picture a heavenly light shining down on the Feeding Friends Clinic, a wonderful place filled with angels performing feeding miracles every day.  :)  If you look back to last November's post, you'll see that I sang praises of the wonderful, amazing women who worked so hard with Trenton on developing the ability to eat.  Today's post is no different!  One therapist angel in particular, "Miss Colleen" (as Trenton knows and loves her), gets to claim all the credit for teaching Trenton to chew and to drink from a straw--two skills that are much more difficult to teach than I could've ever imagined.  There aren't enough words to begin describing how amazingly talented, patient, and loving she is with Trenton, and there aren't enough words to thank her for what she has done!  It's because of Colleen that Trenton sits in the cafeteria with his kindergarten classmates every day and unpacks his lunchbox.  It's because of Colleen that after 5 years, Matt and I can finally sit down and share a meal with our son.  She's changed our lives, and has given Trenton a gift that I will never take for granted.

Would you like to meet her?  And better yet, her family, too?!  Colleen's husband, Dave, and their children, Lilly and Henry are pretty amazing themselves!!  They are such a thoughtful, intelligent, creative, and fun family!  We had a great time at Coxhall Gardens in Carmel, and even had a special guest appearance by their dog, Lizzie!  Here are some shots from our evening.  Enjoy!
